Advanced Open Water Diver is built differently from most courses — there's no exam, because it's genuinely about experience, not memorization. You'll complete five Adventure Dives: two required (Deep and Underwater Navigation) and three of your choice from options like Wreck, Drift, Fish ID, Night, and more. It's the natural next step right after Open Water certification, and it opens up dive sites below 18m/60ft.
The Deep Adventure Dive introduces you to the physiological effects of diving below 18m and how to manage them, down to a maximum depth of 30 metres/100 feet (21m/70ft for divers aged 12–14). The Underwater Navigation dive sharpens your compass and natural navigation skills — something every confident diver relies on. Your remaining three dives are chosen with your interests in mind, so the course doubles as a preview of the specialties you might want to pursue next.
Deep diving procedures and physiology, underwater navigation techniques, and three specialties of your choosing — commonly Wreck, Drift, Fish ID, Peak Performance Buoyancy, or Night Diving depending on what interests you.
