Tec Basics is the bridge between recreational and technical diving — a multi-use course focused on orienting you to technical equipment configurations, core tec skills, and the mindset shift that technical diving demands. It's not a certification you'll use to dive independently; it's the foundation everything else in the TecRec system builds on.
We'll work through doubles or sidemount configuration, gas management basics, and the situational awareness that separates recreational and technical diving. Getting these fundamentals genuinely solid here makes every course that follows — Tec 40 onward — go smoother.
Technical equipment configuration and orientation (doubles or sidemount), foundational tec diving skills, and the gas and situational awareness technical diving requires.
Advanced Open Water Diver (or equivalent) recommended, with an interest in progressing into the TecRec technical diving system.
Technical equipment orientation, pool and/or confined water sessions, and credit toward Tec 40 training.
